Import & export gevaarlijke afvalstoffen naar VS - pauze 2 oktober tot 17 januari
De Waalse administratie (DSD) heeft Denuo verwittigd dat er tussen 2 oktober 2021 en 17 januari 2022 geen nieuwe kennisgevingen voor de import en export van gevaarlijke afvalstoffen door de Amerikaanse EPA zullen worden behandeld. Dit gebeurt omdat de Amerikaanse administratie vanaf 17 januari 2022 zal overschakelen naar een nieuw elektronisch systeem en eerst alle ontvangen dossiers wil behandelen.

Dear Competent Authority,
This communication serves the purpose of alerting you that U.S. EPA will be migrating to a new electronic system (RCRAInfo WIETS) for managing its hazardous waste import and export notification process from 1-17 January 2022. This transition will affect your exporters and importers of hazardous waste because any notification that does not complete the Prior Informed Consent process in our old electronic system by 31 December 2021 will have to be resubmitted in January 2022 for processing in our new system.
As a result of this migration, U.S. EPA will be implementing a blackout period starting 2 October 2021 through 17 January 2022, during which we will not receive any new notifications for import or export of hazardous waste. This blackout period will allow U.S. EPA to process all complete notifications received by 1 October 2021 in our old system by 31 December 2021. In order to complete our process for export notifications in time we request that you send us your decisions regarding U.S. export notifications no later than 15 November 2021. A delay in receiving your decision may prevent us from issuing the corresponding export documentation by 31 December 2021, requiring a resubmittal of the notices in question starting on 18 January 2022.
Please note that during the period of 1-17 January 2022 all functionality in our old system will be disabled and its data will be transferred to our new system so we will be unable to process any documentation during that time period.
We ask that you please review the schedule below and alert your hazardous waste importers and exporters to the importance of following this schedule as there will be no exceptions:
1 October 2021 – Last day for U.S. EPA to receive new import or export notifications
15 November 2021 – Deadline for Competent Authorities to submit to U.S. EPA decisions on U.S. export and transit notices via email
2 October 2021 – 31 December 2021 – U.S. EPA will process all complete notifications in its system and corresponding decisions received from Competent Authorities
2 October 2021 – 17 January 2022 - Blackout period for new notifications – no new notifications will be accepted
18 January 2022 – U.S. EPA can begin to receive new import or export notifications for processing in the new system
