Certification for the recycling of paper and cardboard (CRP)

In Belgium, approximately 864,000 tons of old paper and cardboard are recycled annually. The quality of the recycled paper and cardboard is guaranteed by the CRP standard (Certification Recovery of paper and cardboard). Recycling companies that meet this standard can obtain a certification certificate in Belgium through Denuo, the Belgian holder of this standard.

The certification for the recycling of paper and cardboard (CRP) follows Belgian legislation and must be renewed every three years based on an audit. For this audit, Denuo collaborates with KIWA, an organization that operates worldwide in Testing, Inspection, and Certification (TIC). As soon as KIWA has conducted and validated the audit, Denuo will issue a certificate to the audited recycling company. This certificate is valid for three years until the next audit.

How to obtain the certification certificate for recycled paper and cardboard?

Step 1: Request a certification audit through Denuo

Send your request for an audit to marine.ronquetti@denuo.be. She will put you in contact with KIWA. The detailed protocol can be found in the agreement of the CRP standard (article 5).

Step 2: KIWA conducts the audit

A company must send a completed checklist by email to the certifying body (KIWA) no later than five days before the audit. This shows that the company has demonstrably prepared for the inspection. If a complete checklist is not provided (on time), the audit will not take place, and cancellation fees may be charged.

Step 3: Receipt of the certification certificate

As soon as Denuo receives the recognition through KIWA, Denuo will provide you with the official certification certificate.
